The Orthodontic Centre
Record Month
July was a record month for many reasons
- Rain, rain, rain. Can someone explain why with Global warming, we continue to have such wet and miserable summers? I was in Cornwall last week and although I love the place, it was sad to see so many families huddled on the beach wearing hats, anoraks etc. It was warmed in the sea than on the beach !!!!!There was a roaring trade in hot chocolate !!
- We had our best month ever for work experience students. It is almost complusory if you are thinking of studying dentistry at University to show that you have had some work experience of the dental environment. This could be some time with your family dentist or the hospital service. Many hopeful dental students apporach us to see if they can spend some time with us and we are always happy to oblige. All requests for work experience need to be in writing.
- In my view, the stuff you read in the press about A levels getting easier to pass is a load of nensense. I feel that todays 6th form students are just harder working and more aware of what they need to do to pass A2 levels with good grades. This is also coupled with better teaching.
- The 6th form students who come to us for work experience are definately well prepared for good grades. I continue to be amazed by their level of knowledge and sheer hard work.
- Tooth Whitening - July 2009 was a record month for the number of patients who started tooth whitening with my team. Common reasons were...I want to look younger / better....I have a wedding soon...My children mentioned that my teeth were getting yellow...I have stopped smoking and want whiter teeth.
Lets hope that August will be WARM and DRY.
